Primary Purpose:
We are looking for a passionate culinary individual to fill the Cook position in our Food Services Department. The cook position is responsible for resolving issues and serving as a link between Dining, Dietary and upper management. The ideal candidate will be a competent individual who will be able to guide and maintain professional examples in a gracious, hospitable environment. The cook will be well-versed in processes under the role’s responsibility and will be results-driven and focused.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitor food prep, plating, recipes, activities along with other cooks, prep cooks and other kitchen workers.  
  • Ability to maintain new cooking techniques and utilize all kitchen equipment.  
  • Plan menus, requisition food and kitchen supplies.  
  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.  
  • Preps food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, making dressings, preparing sauces, cooking to proper temperatures).  Cooking menu items in cooperation with the rest of the Kitchen staff
  • Cooks’ meals to order.  
  • Monitors and tasting food created by other cooks and takes accountability of food coming out of the kitchen.  
  • Cleanup & sanitize food prep area and kitchen.  
  • Stock inventory appropriately.  Always Maintains a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.  
  • Directly supervises food-service associates as a role model in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws.  
  • Trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance.  
  • Advises management of purchasing requirements with a focus on minimizing waste and avoiding product shortages. 
  • Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, consistency, serving temperatures and standard portion control.  Stores,
    labels and dates food items according to policy; maintains established food rotations in storage to minimize spoilage and waste.  Follow all safety guidelines to ensure   
 
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Prep Cook experience required.
  • Line Cook experience required.
  • Experience in High End hospitality is plus.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and be a team player.
  •  Must have excellent customer service skills   
 
Physical Requirements: 
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Long periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to walk the entire campus.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents and other staff.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., more than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
  • Is subject to falls, bumps from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, etc.
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions. etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be required to work on weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.
