BASIC FUNCTION:
The LPN will provide evaluation of the needs of the individual in the Skilled Nursing. Emphasis will be placed on maximizing independence, promoting maintaining and restoring.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow established standards of gerontological nursing practice. Distribute medications according to standards of practice. Supervise and evaluate all resident care activities. Responds to call in ILU
Coordinate all nursing dietary, housekeeping, pharmacy and activity services required by the individual. Demonstrate ability to manage emergency situations and respond accordingly. Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with residents, family and co-workers. Arrange for outside consultants and follow-up care as directed. Knowledge of current state and federal regulations and ability to carry out requirements. Meet with the Skilled Nursing Staff to coordinate services, programs and activities. Create an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm home-like environment Within the Skilled Nursing Unit. Assist in planning recreational activities (i.e. parties, musical events, games, crafts). Assist with all day-to-day operations, including nursing, housekeeping, laundry and dining services if needed. Participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of Beaumont’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Attend and participate in annual mandated in-services and educational programs that promote professional growth and development.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN in this state of PA. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Minimum 1-year nursing experience, preferable in a Personal Care or Assisted Living setting.
