BASIC FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the Director of Wellness the Medical Assistant will answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate individuals. This position will assist nursing staff with directed clinical functions as appropriate and will be responsible for routine clerical functions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Room patients and take vital signs as directed by nursing staff
- Greet patient/clients, secure nature of visits and direct to appropriate individual.
- Work with resident/family to adequately explain departmental procedures and processes.
- Coordinate new employee medical onboarding as related to company policy.
- Maintain schedules and calendars and schedule doctors' appointments.
- Make medical transportation arrangements with the Resident Services Department.
- Make follow-up appointments and schedule tests as ordered by medical providers.
- Order refill prescriptions. Process mail order prescription requests.
- Distribute reminder notices for the medical appointments
- Prepare laboratory slips for MLCL - ICD 9 Codes
- Prepare new resident files by making sure that the files are complete for physical appointment. Pull charts for doctor, prepare schedule and billing slips.
- Sort, screen, and distribute incoming mail and process outgoing mail from the department.
- Compile and post information on standard forms. Using specific formats and systems enter a variety of clinical and administrative data and review for accuracy.
- Order and keep department supplied within the necessary clerical requirements.

EDUCATION, SKILLS And ABILITIES
- A minimum of two years’ experience in an office environment.
- Organization and accuracy skills necessary. Proficient in computers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant Certification preferred
